iClicker

iClicker is an audience response system that allows instructors to poll their class and gather real-time results. Instructors use a desktop application to ask multiple choice, short answer, numeric or image target questions. Students answer these questions using their own computer or mobile device. Results are available as soon as the instructor closes polling in the form of graphs, tables or an image showing student’s responses

Why use clickers?

Clickers encourage participation and are a tool for active learning. Clickers can be used to gauge the baseline knowledge of a class and to show the progress of learning. For example, a clicker question can be asked at the beginning of class to let the instructor know how advanced the level of discussion should be. After class, the same question could be asked again to show that the students have grasped the knowledge from the lecture.

iClicker can also be integrated into both OWL Sakai and OWL Brightspace to offer easy access to students.

iClicker is available to all Western users at no charge.
